How to Use the Queries Resolution Engine in Your Portal

Mech Power

When an order is placed or an inquiry is submitted with Mech Power, the engineering team conducts a Design for Manufacturability review before production begins. There are times when our engineering team may need a few clarifications to proceed accurately. In such cases, technical queries are raised directly within your Customer Portal for you to review and respond.

This guide walks you through how to access and respond to technical queries, step by step.

Where to Find Your Technical Queries

Once you log in to the Mech Power website, click on My Account located on the top right corner of the page, beside the Instant Parts Quote button. Once inside your account, navigate to the Technical Queries section from the left side menu. This is where all queries raised by the engineering team against your active orders and inquiries are listed.

Step 1. Stay Updated on Your Queries

You will be notified whenever a query is raised, both on your email and within the Customer Portal. This ensures you are always aware of any clarifications required before your order can move forward.

Step 2. Open Your Active Query

In the Technical Queries section, you will see all queries linked to your orders and inquiries. Each query is specific to an inquiry and raised by the engineering team for your review. Open the query to read the full details of what clarification is required.

Some common examples of what a technical query may cover include:

  • Material specifications are missing
  • Data specifies an uncommon material grade
  • Fastener specifications are missing
  • Parts shown in assembly drawings are missing from the BOM
  • Alternative manufacturing processes are suggested for better results

Step 3. Review the Query

Read each query in full before responding. Each query includes questions and suggestions raised by our engineering team. These suggestions are recommended options or solutions to help resolve the query. The query may relate to material specifications, assembly details, fastener requirements, manufacturing process suggestions, or other technical aspects of your order. If the query includes reference to a drawing or document, review it alongside the query before submitting your response.

Step 4. Submit Your Response

Responding to every query is compulsory. A query cannot be resolved until a response is submitted by you. Open the technical query to review the suggested options or solutions provided by our engineering team. Respond by accepting or rejecting the question, select the appropriate option, add your comments, or upload a file if required. Every response is documented within the portal and linked to the relevant order.

You may review your response and submit immediately, or save multiple responses and submit them together at a later point. All queries are organized and tracked by date within the section.

Step 5. Await Engineering Review

Once your response is submitted, the engineering team reviews it. If the clarification is sufficient, the query is marked as resolved. If further information is needed, additional queries may be raised and the process continues until full resolution is achieved.

Step 6. Production Begins

Once all technical queries are resolved and the Design for Manufacturability review is complete, your order moves to production. Every query, every response, and every approval is tracked within the portal. Nothing moves forward on assumptions.

Why Responding Promptly Matters

In manufacturing, delays are not always caused by production capacity or machining time. In many cases, delays happen during the clarification stage between engineering review and production.

When technical queries are left unanswered, production cannot begin. Responding promptly to your queries ensures your order moves forward without unnecessary delays and that your product is manufactured right the first time.

Ready to Respond

If you have an active order or inquiry with Mech Power, your technical queries may already be waiting for you. Log in to your account, click on My Account, and navigate to the Technical Queries section to review and respond to all queries raised by our engineering team.
